Forepsych Institute

Forepsych Institute

Training and supervision for mental health professionals, and workshops for workplaces and the public, grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

For Mental Health Professionals

ACT Training

As a trainer, I bring an interactive, experiential approach rather than lectures full of theory. Sessions are built around questions, real examples, and linking theory directly to practice, with a heavy focus on the practical, hands-on components that help learning stick.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training
  • Self-care workshops for practitioners
  • Mindfulness training

Individual & Group

ACT Supervision

I provide supervision in ACT for individuals and groups. If you’re looking to increase your competency in ACT, workshops and books are like toolboxes, while supervision guides you to use the tools in your toolbox effectively. I use SHAPE, an ACT-based supervision approach, built on being open about my supervision values.

SafetyFeeling safe to be yourself, try new things, and stumble.

OpenOpen to learning new things and to feedback, always.

AcceptingAccepting you as a therapist, however you view yourself as one.

VulnerableWilling to be vulnerable as a person in front of you.

RespectfulRespecting boundaries and decisions you make as a therapist.

FunMaking learning fun instead of serious all the time.

Supervision sessions often include role-plays and real-plays. Group supervision is loosely based on the Portland Model, where participants take turns being therapist and client: 30 minutes case discussion, 30 minutes real-play session, and 30 minutes debrief and feedback.

“I like how Farah structured group supervision into ‘case discussion’ and ‘role play’; it gives a rich experience of case formulation and skills practice in ACT. Farah is keen to learn and improve herself, and always keeps you in mind when she’s learned something new. If you’re looking for a meaningful experience in the journey of ACT, I highly recommend supervision with Farah.”— Mr. Gary Yap, Clinical Psychologist, Founder, MY Psychology

“Farah’s pace of teaching and supervision was very suited for both beginners and advanced level. Farah has the skill to identify the strength of each individual in the group and she polishes it.”— Nor Jannah Nasution Raduan, Psychiatrist, UiTM

“If you would like to walk away from supervision feeling encouraged, confident, and clear about how you are going to take feedback into your therapy sessions, Farah is here to be that supervisor for you.”— Yen Yee Cheng, Clinical Psychologist

Farah Gulamoydeen MClinPsy, BA (Psychology), BBusMan, PhD (in progress), MAPS, ACBS
Registered Psychologist (Australia), Director of Forepsych

As a trainer, Farah is energetic, passionate, and makes learning fun. Her training style is highly interactive, engaging participants with questions and Q&A, using stories only as examples relevant to demonstrating processes, and linking theory to practice. Her workshops are heavy on experiential and practical components to help learning stick.

Farah has focused on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy since 2015, through ongoing training, supervision, and continuing professional development. She founded Malaysia’s first ACT centre, ACT Kuala Lumpur, where she spent close to a decade growing the ACT community and supporting practitioner development in the region. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology, supervised by Prof Joseph Ciarrochi, and heads the Ethics in Action Collective, a not-for-profit professional ethics initiative.
